Ahlers renovates headquarters

Ahlers' headquarters in Antwerp are being thoroughly renovated. Not only offices on the inside but also the outside will get a completely new look.

The Ahlers House dates from 1970, the design was from the Belgian architect Walter Bresseleers.

At the time not only the location in a (then still) deserted new part of the port, but also the construction itself was innovating and spectacular. First the 2 concrete towers were built, after which 10 floors between the towers were constructed. Nowadays Ahlers House is a real landmark in the port of Antwerp and many other buildings, warehouses and companies are all around.

Together with the famous Antwerp architects office Conix a new look was defined. The original style of the building will be retained but an inversion of colours will be applied.

The original white towers are being painted in dark grey, structures between windows will get a white colour.

Also on the inside all floors are completely being stripped and completely refurbished as far as airco, heating, electricity and of course decoration is concerned.

The complete refurbishment of the building will be finished by the middle of 2008.
