WOODLAND PITCHES IN TO HELP GB BASEBALLERS
Woodland Group Ltd has stepped up to the plate to become official transport and logistics partner for Great Britain’s national baseball team.
As its official partner, Woodland’s first pitch was to transport the team’s equipment to the German Baseball Open tournament in Regensburg, Germany, which began on August 27th.
Woodland will also ship the equipment from the European Baseball Championships and Olympic Qualifier event, which takes place in Barcelona, Spain, between September 7th and 16th, back to the UK.
The team hopes to go on to represent Great Britain at next year’s Olympic Games in Beijing, which could see Woodland touching all bases via its Woodland Global Network.
Alan Smith, General Manager of Great Britain’s national baseball team, comments: “The team has placed its trust in Woodland to safely deliver our equipment and we are delighted that the company is able to serve as our official transport partner – both for this event and others in the future.”
Kevin Stevens, Chairman and CEO of the Woodland Group, said: “This is a whole new ball game for Woodland and we feel extremely privileged to be able to support Great Britain’s national baseball team in its bid to secure a place at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
“With tremendous experience in the shipment of cargo to and from mainland Europe, it’s no surprise that the baseball team has chosen to utilise our services. Woodland shipped the team’s equipment to Germany via its weekly groupage service from Hull, while the home run from Barcelona will be managed by our Spanish subsidiary MIT Millon Transport, S.A.”
