FedEx Launches Direct Express Delivery Service Between Manchester, U.K. and United States - Service Increases Daily Capacity from U.K. to U.S. by 50%; Adds up to 20% Daily Capacity from Europe to United States
FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, announced today the launch of a dedicated direct flight between Manchester, U.K., and the U.S.
FedEx will fly a wide-body MD-11 freighter daily, Monday through Thursday, between Manchester International Airport and Memphis, Tennessee, U.S. The flight, originating at the FedEx European Hub in Paris, will increase FedEx daily capacity on the important U.K. - to - U.S. route by up to 50% and from Europe to the U.S. by up to 20%.
“Manchester is the fastest-growing region in the U.K., which has led to increased market demand for reliable, time-definite express transportation services,” said Robert W. Elliott, president, FedEx Express, Europe, Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Africa.
The new flight will be the third to serve the trans-Atlantic route from the U.K. FedEx currently flies two express freighters from Stansted in the Southeast of England to the cities of Newark and Memphis in the U.S. This new flight will extend next-day U.S. delivery coverage within the Manchester region. Many will also benefit from later pick-up times for packages destined for the U.S.
“This new trans-Atlantic flight and enhanced network connectivity enables FedEx to provide its U.K. customers with greater flexibility and convenience while significantly increasing our daily capacity to the U.S., the world’s largest market,” Elliott said.
