Cargolux Accepts Its 15th B747-400 Freighter
Cargolux Airlines International S.A. has accepted its 15th B747-400 freighter from Boeing. The aircraft, registered LX-WCV and named ‘City of Petange’ arrived in Luxembourg this morning after its delivery flight from Seattle with a full load of cargo. Like its predecessors, it is powered by Rolls Royce engines that offer substantial reductions in noise level and fuel consumption. It underlines Cargolux’s commitment to minimize the impact of its activities on the environment.
‘We have operated the B747-400F for many years with excellents results and this aircraft was elementary to our success and profitable growth,’ says Uli Ogiermann, President and CEO of Cargolux. ‘With this mature aircraft, we can offer to our customers a very modern product that helps us to strengthen our position as a global player. The 747-400 provides us with the most modern technology and we will continue this with the new 747-8 freighter from 2009 on.’
‘City of Petange’ will ply Cargolux’s international routes within the next few days, representing the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and its namesake, the city of Petange, worldwide, supporting the local economy and the creation of jobs while securing the airline’s reputation as a provider of first-class services.
