Port of Felixstowe Becomes New Major Sponsor of ‘Felixstowe in Flower 2007’

The Port of Felixstowe has today [5th June] announced that it has become a new major sponsor of ‘Felixstowe in Flower 2007’.

The competition will be officially launched on 29th June. Throughout the Summer, green-fingered entrants will be able to cultivate their gardens, in the hope of winning some of the impressive awards on offer.

The competition will culminate in a prize-giving ceremony, to be held at Brackenbury Sports Centre, Felixstowe, on 25th September.

Chris Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Ports (UK) Limited, owners of the Port of Felixstowe, commented:

“We are proud to be the new major sponsor of such a prestigious local competition. The existence of ‘Felixstowe in Flower’ ensures that, throughout the Summer months, Felixstowe is awash with beautiful colours and scenery, which complement its reputation as a popular tourist attraction.

“We hope our support will enable Felixstowe to look as stunning as ever, and come out on top in the ‘Anglia in Bloom’ competition.”

Councillor Joan Sennington, Mayor of Felixstowe, said:

“’Felixstowe in Flower’ is a really important and successful community scheme. It depends upon local sponsorship, and we are delighted that, in 2007, our major sponsor is the Port of Felixstowe. We are very grateful for their support.”

In 2005 and 2006, the Port’s Dock Basin entry won the coveted ‘ Best of the Best’ title.
